The Story of Soapernova

I had dealt with dry, itchy skin for more years than I can count. Finally I had had enough! Of dry skin and working a job that left me more than frustrated on waaay to many occasions. For years I had been wanting to start my own business and always thought I would become a prop maker. I just love building props and especially prop weapons. :) But with the world events we've seen lately, it didn't seem like my dream would come true. Conventions were being canceled left and right, and with it my potential market. Then one frustrating day I couldn't stop itching after I took my shower that evening. What more could I do? I bought the fancy, expensive, moisturizing soap from the store. I bought the expensive lotion too but it was never enough. I was always itchy...always! Sometimes I would scratch my legs in my sleep and wake up with terrible scratch marks all over. That's when a light bulb went off! I had always thought soap making looked so fun! I could be creative AND do chemistry and the same time!? (I'm totally a science buff) I sat down at my computer and started digging in. I watched YouTube videos, I read books and articles. I was hooked! I started with a super easy soap with step by step instructions. I had some hiccups and definetly had some learing to do but I loved it. Several more "practice" batches and it was time to make my own formula. Back to my books, articles, and YouTube. Research, research, research. I knew what I wanted. I looked into so many different oils and butters, and finally...I had it! My own recipe. But how was it going to compare? It looked good on paper, but that's different than actually using it. So I made a batch. Let it cure and tried it. It was AWESOME! Waaay better than anything store bought I had ever gotten! But maybe I was biased? Samples went out to friends, family, my partner's co-workers and more. I begged for their honest opinion. I could take it. They loved it! I tweaked my recipe a little more, adding some milks to it. Goats milk, and then settled on coconut milk. The itching had all but stopped but my mind didn't. What if I made lotion too? So I did, and I loved that too. Samples went out and it was a great hit as well! This was it! This was what I was looking for and wanting all these years. My itchy skin is a thing of the past! And with it I decided to say goodbye to a frustrating job that I felt like I was drowning at and so Soapernova was born! After months and months of researching and testing I had something I was truly passionate about and could proudly say "That's my job"! I truly love the products I have made and I hope you do too!!
